For my sins, I have a BA in Music General Studies (2.1), MA in music, and Mphil. I taught piano 3 hours a week for 2 years at Joseph Chamberlain College (1993-95) as well as in a few pupils homes. I was a visiting music lecturer for a short time in 1995 at Birmingham University. I have received awards and scholarships for the study of music. I attended a course on Hoy in 1990 led by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies and Steve Martland. I have music performed at the Southbank Centre (1991) and Huddersfield Festival of Contemporary Music (1992) as well as the Custard Fa ctory. I have also take an interest in the Alexander Technique. Piano is my main instrument but I have also studied at various times the guitar, clarinet and cello. More recently I arranged and performed the music for a pantomime at the Library Theatre - 2006. Since then I have been collaborating with playwright, poet and lyricist John Goss, who is also a good friend, on songs and musicals, the most recent one being based on the life and times of the Birmingham Industrialist Sir Matthew Boulton. In the 1980s I had some experience performing in jazz and pop bands in London, Windsor and Edinburgh. I would be interested in teaching piano up to Grade V. I am fluent in French and could offer French conversation. I also hold qualifications in maths, plumbing and computer programming. My pianistic goal since the 1990s has been to master all the works of Debussy.
